Boot Lid Strut Replacement

Hey all,

My boot sometimes doesn't stay open, normally when cold and weighed down with rain for instance. Looking both struts have weeped a little, right hand side the most.

My question is has anyone changed these? I'm guessing it's an easy job?

I changed them on my old Vec B as they had leaked out.. its a 5 minute job tops

When you buy replacements get the black ones though, as the 'bare metal' ones rust very quickly as i found out..

well they say they are.. My original ones on the Vec B struggled after I added a spoiler, so when i bought replacements from a bloke on ebay they said they were uprated to handle boots with spoilers etc.. well it does just about cope but I think they could do with being more uprated than they were..

btw when you change them , get somebody hold your boot open for you or get a broom handle, if you don't you will find out how heavy that thing is when it smacks down on your melon....

just replace with the normal ones, they are more then man enough.
i changed mine at about xmas and what a differance with new struts,
i couldn't belive how nackered my old ones where untill i change them.
i got a rear wing and roof spoiler on mine and the new ones have no problem holding them up.

Cheers all!! ONLY today been able to check my original post!!!

I found some standard I guess struts on Ebay for £15 each with postage, thought a bit pricey so phoned my local Vx, but could I get anyone in the parts section? No. I'll ring back today and compare prices.
