    Default where is my oil filter

    as above ive just had my 150 cdti serviced and got home to take a look and found oil all over cover and down front of engine and whot i thought was the oil filter not changed am i right in thinking that the one at the back of the engine below the fuel filter is the oil filter thanks in advance (pic would be nice)ta

    The filter is at the back of the engine above the O.S drive shaft and point's to the gearbox it has a 32mm nut on the end.
    It may be that they have spilt oil when doing the service.

    Only the oil filter element is changed on the vectra, i.e inside the cannister that you can see. So it won't look any different.

    Pics pretty small, but that is for power steering. It's easiest to see the oil filter housing from underneath the car, although not if the cover is back in place. The oil filter housing is black in colour

    You cannot change the oil filter from the top. its at the back of the engine IN THE MIDDLE AND POINTS DOWNWARDS!!, IT HAS A LOCKING CLIP ON IT TO STOP THE TOP FROM COMING UNDONE, you have to hold the clip away with a screw driver and undo the filter lid till it passes the clip!, there's a little drain pipe on the side of the casting put a length of garden hose on it long enough to drain the cannister contents into your tub. ((marked in red square in pic.))
