    Default fuel savings

what sort of savings can be made from only half filling your tank at fill ups instead of filling right up ?? {saving fuel by not logging a full tank of motion lotion around !} with this labour govt always with their hand in our wallets when we go to the pumps, gotta think about saving the old pennies ! or is it me being tight..........

Yeah it would help, as would removing dead weight from the rest of the car, like things in the boot etc.

Only benefit is during 1st half of tank usage therefore ~Av 15kg more mass / tank so I'd expect about 1% improvement

I don't do many miles per week but i only put in £20-£25 of derv for 2 reasons!, (1) why would you fill up and drag all that weight round !!. dumb thing to do!!. (2) if someone nick's my car they can buy there own fuel simple!. the only reasons for filling right up could be , you do lots of miles or live miles from a garage surely.

so not really worth it then.... i normally tank it up and i can usually get about 550-570ish before filling up again, which averages out at about 46mpg, with carefull driving, i can normally make it last a couple of weeks

ive hurd this 1 on the radio some time back deisel is ment to be good doing this because they said its thicker when cold so first thing in the morning is the best time so they say, and another one was you know how you just squeeze the handle at the pump if you squeeze it just a little you are ment to get more, i dont believe that one tho,

im going down devon in may so having a full tank of diesel is pointless because of the weight? its about 170 mile from me so would i use less fuel if i had half a tank than if i had a full tank?

I guess the main reason people fill their tank right up is its then less hassle as you fill up less often so if you use a tank per week then if you half filled you would need a mid-week fill up which is extra effort for some! and you dont have to queue and wait and wait to pay and all that palarva more than you need to?
