confused full consumption after airbox mod

maybe me (gunning it a bit more) but after doing airbox mod the weekend my mpg has taken a dive , normal trip to work seems more juicy, i can almost see the fuel guage needle moving when non motorway.
    Anyone else experienced this?

I did the airbox mod about a year ago and while i think it improved the low rev lul, i do think my fuel consumption has gone up and i don't think i'm getting as a good a mpg as before the mod.

just ck out the how2 section ..theres a mind of imformation in there

basically its removing a trumpet in the airbox which restricts the flow of air .

it should improve on short journeys, but one thing i have noticed after i put mine back in yesterday before taking car to garage for inlet manifold replacement is, with it off you get more linear power curve with it back on it's like fast faster then a dollop of power and torque and it back to the future with flames behind car. will take it off when i get car back as i preffered the more linear power delivery.

My car is out of warranty now so contemplating doing the airbox mod. Quite fancy gaining some power below 1800 rpm but not sure about possible drop in MPG especially with fuel prices
