    Unhappy Limp mode

Hello again, I have already posted issues about this problem before, but it has now gone one stage further. After 3 attempts of the garage tryin to fix my car and the turbo limp mode situation, I have now put in for rejecting the vehicle and am trying to reclaim the losses from the garage and finance company.
I am going to get a diagnostics report carried out myself at some reputable company and prove that there is still a problem and get any of my costs since this matter originally came about, reimbursed.

I need to gather a list of known problems that can cause the turbo too shutdown whilst driving, so I can have these areas checked just on the off chance that this hasn't been done when the car was sent back to the garage. Help from anyone and everyone who has had this problem would be very much appreciated.

I have noticed that since looking for issues with regards to the 'limp mode' problem in Vectra's, there are literally 100's. I think this may well be something that we could hopefully put to Vauxhall or even the government as it seems Vauxhall have known about this issue for some time.

    Hi Brett,

    sorry your still having issues...

as such the vehicle going into limp mode can be induced by any number of faults as its a preventative measure to stop you causing significant damage to the engine.

as per my post in the other thread did they change BOTH turbo solenoid valves ...

i think they only changed one didnt they?? this could still be the route of your problems - without knowing what faults its generating...

do we also know if the car has been remapped at all ?

it could be induced by a weak turbo actuator - i wound mine out by 4 full turns to reduce boost pressure on mine as it was inducing similar faults (i.e. Limp home Mode in higher gears)

and regarding Dons free Bump - he was pushing it back to the top of the list (bump to the top) so that it would get read

    regards

    Dez

    Hi Dez

your right in saying they only changed one solenoid.

Not sure if it has been remapped to tell you the truth, but reckon not as I think they would of told me.

Tried the 'PEDAL TEST' but didn't seem to work

If you want to reject the vehicle, go straight to the finance company
They own the car and will work with you, after all the last thing you want is taking action against them!

Outline to them that you have allowed the sales outlet at least three attempts to repair the fault, which is still present
Give details of any and all costs incurred so far (loss of wages, phone calls, hire cars, etc)

You also need to take into account the mileage between the fault appearing and present

I have been onto the finance company and basically even after giving the garage 3 attempts to fix it and there still being a problem, they are happy that everything has been done, because its been into Vauxhall and not showing a fault. from searching the internet it seems this is a common problem and could be caused by numerous things and costs can go into the 1000's as it seems half the time parts are replaced and the problems still re-occur. I am looking at informing the financial ombudsman as there are more things I am entitled to claim for aswell, inconvenience, stress, expenses and I can also charge between £50 and £100 a day for my time from the date of me sending them the letter of rejection.

i had this for ages (almost 6 months ) and i was told that a service would cure it (suprise suprise it didnt ).......i was round a mates house and we were comparing the engines in our C's when he noticed a TINY split in the airline going towards the turbo it was about 10mm from the turbo itself and was so small i could not see it until we had cut that part of the airline back and then reconnected it turns out that it was drawing air through the split and causing the turbo to malfunction as it was not creating a vaccum .

cutting the airline back to just before the split worked and i was burning round the town again in about 1 min flat with a turbo working properly and it still works even better 2 years on !!1

so have a check of the airline coming into the turbo you might have the same problem as i did good luck with it matey

The garage had the engine on a smoke test machine, just incase there were any holes, but they didn't find any. Dunno where I am now lol, just hope they think better from my next letter and take my rejection of the car

Well moved house now and gone to Leeds. I drove the car there and guess what happened..........yup the turbo went off. Anyway I phoned the AA and they sent one of their reputable companies out to look at the car. He made a report out stating the problem was suspected turbo/map sensor (code read) due to the turbo shutting down. Hopefully this will be enough for the finance company to see I aint givin up and that this will be accepted before I have to put it before the Financial Ombudsman. :-)

    Heres hoping so !!!!!!!!!!!!
