    rolleyes Engine Swap Options

hi guys im asking the question because i intend on having my vectra for a very long time and im only 21 in may so i intend of getting a leather interior and upgrading the lighting radio and then the exterior alloys and so on so ill obviously want to keep the car once ive got it sorted.

so what engine swaps are possible for my 03 LS 2.0DTI i hoping for something thats great on power and even better on fuel so diesel i think lol

but just a list of different engines would be great so i could look into them and ive never had a car like this befor so i dont have any idea about what engines vectras came with to start with sorry for been a abit thick

    many thanks mike

If you have the money i dare say you could put what ever engine you want it to a degree but not sure on the 2.0 dti everything is connected to each other and not sure you could even pop a 2.2 in there as ECU might need changing.
I'm sure an engine guru will be along soon to help you out

thanks pal i have a classic mini and engine swaps can take less than 2 hours if your good but i dont think id dare even attempt this myself with all the electics im sure i would have to have the ecu changed or at least flashed n mapped for what ever engine it would have in it. my concern is the wiring loom because some other engines are going have different looms and im not sure how that would effect the wiring for the rest of the car not including the engine. but i just wanna no my options

This should be interesting as i was thinking of doing the same thing a while ago. I've came to the conclusion of getting a quicker vectra. 130 / 150.

Just trying to convince the wife. lol.

with vectra c it is cheaper and easyier and wiser to sell your running car and buy the car with the engine you want already fitted .....

Trust me mate its nothing like an engine swap in a Mini ,done that one myself many moons ago. The problem your going to have isnt mechanical its all the electronic systems that will cause the problem. Even parts like fuel pumps are coded to the car. You mess with one and you mess with them all to a certain degree. An engine swap has never been done in a Vec C although Danboy is trying to do it at the minute so he would be a good person to speak to. It will be possible, but its going to take alot of work on the electronics, plenty of time on the Tech 2 and plenty of money to get it all sorted. I recon a stand alone engine ECU would be the place to go, but as said its worth speaking to danboy.
