    Default Arcing in bulb holders

    Hey everyone.

I have done a search but can't find anyone with a similar problem.

I have had intermittant bulb failures in the rear light clusters so I pulled them off for a good look.

It is apparent that there has been some long term arcing accross the bulb to mount Connections leading to pitting burning and one connection had blown a hole through it's mount !

I have sanded , tack welded and ground repairs to the clusters but was wondering how to stop this recurring?

Anybody else had this problem and know of a cure ?

    Cheers

its obviously been a bad connection initially thats caused the issue - providing you have rectified this then you should be ok

Cheers Dez , I hope nothing recurrs.

Ive never used Vaseline (ooh err) but would this assist the contacts and stop any potential arcing ?

indeed anything that would increase the connectivity and prevent an arc ocurring would help

white grease (similar to vaseline) is now commonly used in "preventative repairs" on electrical connectivity on harnesses and bulb connectors in the motor trade (to prevent arcing and possible thermal incidents!!) on some connectors its srynge packed into the joints
