    Default correct mileage?

evening all. quick question. is it possible to alter the mileage reading on an 2008 vectra cdti sri, i have no intention of doing this myself, i have doubts about the mileage on my car as ive found out a car hire company owned my car from new. they only had it for 5 months then a guy in Manchester bought it. it only had 16000 on it when i got the car. when i found out i started to question was the mileage genuine.

you can get the ecu read and see if that matches with the clocks

I think car hire companys only keep them until they hit 10,000 miles if thats of any use.

Yes, you can see the mileage on Tech 2 from the management system. I doubt it would have been clocked though, as already said hire car companies don't run them for long.

I'd be more worried about the style of miles that it's got, not the amount of miles it's got!

They say hire cars are always faster for a reason!

Nah just kidding mine is an ex-Enterprise car and I've had it since 12k on the clock and it's now got 31k and I've never had *touch wood* a mechanical thing go wrong so far!

Yours will hopefully be the same.

i've had probably 100 hire cars through work in the last 7 years and only once seen one with 5 figures on the clock. as said they only keep them about a year or 10k so i'd say yours is spot on mileage wise.
