Default Looking for a guru on Astra's lol

I am trying to get to the route of a couple of problems on a 2001 Astra G 1.6 8v

The speedo has died after alot of fluctuations, which I have pinpointed to a faulty nsf wheel speed sensor (non abs car)

The car is also cutting out when slowing down to junctions, is this related to the ecu getting strange signals from the wheel sensor? The spanner light comes on sometimes too

    Any help appreciated

TBH i understand the Vec's better than this damn thing

Not yet although I had read that that and the EGR valve could be at fault. I am changing the speed sensor tomorrow so if that doesn't cure the problem then that will be the next port of call

Could may well be speed sensor related John had this on corsas.. if this doesnt cure it remove the throttle body and give it a good clean you will see a small hole in the TB it will be choked sold with carbon deposit build up..best bet it to drill it out with a small drill usually clears the problems..although just reading back your post its mainly 16v's this problems on.. EGR is common on the 8v to

A quick scan on AOC suggests it could be a few things, dodgy ICV, knackered ECU or poor compression!

Soeone changed the fuel sender which helped a little and someone randomly said the knock sensor but that would only be when under load?

In my limited experience, I would also check the coolant temp sensor.

The car needs to know what speed its doing as it thinks its not moving due to your wheel speed sensor fault, Change your hub and i think all your problems will be solved...
