    Default Extra switches ............... !

    Hi...

I've looked at a couple of different postings regarding the fitting of additional switches. Namely the parking pilot, t/c and sport switches.

I fully understand that these switches will probably not have any other effect than lighting up and looking better than the blanking plates.

But I have picked up info that even the lighting up might be compromised depending on the 'half' or 'full' canbus situation.

Firstly I don't fully understand what is meant by half or full canbus. I thought that canbus was a form of communication system developed by Bosch for high tech applications.

Whilst the sport and t/c switches might not work I have had the rear parking sensor fitted and colour coded at my main dealer, it works like the f/fitted option but when I asked about the switch they don't fit them as the operation is automatic. Might it work or not, more importantly might it not light up.

Finally should I order from a main dealer or via well known auction site.

    What shoud I be paying....

    Cheers.

I'll answer one of the questions..

Half canbus --- Most ECU's use canbus to communicate, there are a couple of systems which are still hardwired and not on the canbus network (thus half canbus) up to 54plate usually,

Full canbus - All ecu's on the network and everything is controlled via canbus (ie not hardswitching of voltages) 54plate onwards usually.
Plasma's Tech2 services are now partially open and able to provide services

was just looking on this "site " earlier and the tc switches were about £18 plus postage which is a lot more than they cost at the dealers

    so try the dealer first
