    Default Rattle on biting point

    Hope you can help diagnose this prob, There is a rattling noise when the car is help on it biting point but once the clutch is depressed or the car is out of gear it goes away?

    Any idea's?

    P.S my cars had had a new clutch and dmf around 6months go with less that 10000 miles covered

    Quite possible that its a duff flywheel mate. I would love a CDTi but that fault scares the crap out of me

    If I got one it would happen to me guarenteed

    milage is 48000 flywheel replaced at 40000 and its an 05 cdti sri 8v

    There is a pipe, aircon I think that run's along the front above the radiator, this can get loose and rattle, has a fixing to the right hand side as you look at it.

    Best bet it to get someone to get it to biting point while you have a nosey under the bonnet.

    Mine does this sometimes (2.2 petrol).... seems worse if on a incline.
    Done over 15,000m like this....but pulls away fine......guess it's gonna cost me soon...

    anybody else think this is a flywheel or had any issue like this before

    I had an Astra 2.0DTi 2003 that had a metallic rattling noise just as drive was taken up at the biting point. Thought it was the exhaust downpipe originally, took it into the garage who said it was the DMF but they all do it. It was 6 months old with 5000 miles at the time. I sold it 5 years later with nearly 40000 miles, still making the noise, but hadn't got any worse.

    Who fitted the flywheel? Can you take it back to where it was fitted and get their opinion, and possibly a new one fitted under warranty?

    cars is out off warranty LAD but my friend fitted the last 1 all Luk parts including the clutch flywheel etc so im at a loss to think off what else it could be if it is the flywheel i think its time to get rid, ill have to see if the ,ate has time this week to have look also
