    Default BT Customer 'service'

    HI guys
Just thought i'd let you all know about BT's ''customer service'' Today I checked my bill on line and found that my bill was paid until june and that I was £120 in credit. Great I thought they are taking £47 a month from my bank account by direct debit so in june I will be £260 in credit, so i'll have some of it back. Rang em. After 2 cans of Fosters and 4 fags Mathew answered the phone. Mathew says I, you've got £120 of my hard earned in your bank account which is a lot bigger than mine and i'd like it back please. Sorry says he, you can only have £50. Why can't I have my money back says me, because those are the rules was the reply. So beware guys if you owe these robbing *******s money they disconnect you phone / broadband, but if they owe you money tough. Guess who will be a talktalk customer soon.

They have to pay it all back. Done it plenty of times.
Think you can do it via the BT website in the your account bit.

Tried that, they say they can only pay the amount of my last bill then I need to claim the rest from my bank through direct debit gaurantee. The only difference between them and Dick Turpin is he wore a mask.

i was about 200 quid in credit last year, instead of giving me a refund they lowered my direct debit to the lowest amount their system would allow (something like 20 odd quid a month) and i didnt pay a bill for about 4 or 5 months

Cancel the Direct Debits and mandates on your bank account
Setup Direct Payment on your bank account
Pay each bill as it arrives

Use up the current balance until a nil balance is attained

As for the credit balance, submit a request in writing by Recorded Delivery for the "excess balance" (this is calculated as the balance less one quarters normal bill over the last 18 months) to be paid within 28 days

I fell out with BT years ago, found that I was incorrectly being charged 8p per minute instead of 1p per minute for calls, and they had no idea what that was occuring
Bills were corrected, but the same problem still existed
The problem was only resolved after referring the matter to OfCom and submitting a case to small claims court including costs of £500 for phone calls, time, and travel to resolve the issue

I recently had a similar issue with a relatives British Gas account, no gas or electric used for 12 months, and they refused tomake a full refund of £250 on a credit balance, offering only £100 however this did not match the account usage in the previous 18 months
This was resolved just a few weeks ago, a refund of £350 was made by them after I submitted costs of £100

Thanks for that. I had problems with British Gas but I did get my overpayments back. I've just recieved an email from BT's CEO saying he will look into my complaint.

be VERY careful going to talk talk , one thing they don't tell you when your transferring is they take your line from the BT network, but it is buried deep into the terms and conditions , so when in the future if you ever wish to leave talk talk you would have to pay £124.99 for BT to put you back onto the network , or the post office and get it done for £110 with no minimum term lol.
