    Default CD70 with MP3 CDs

    Hi

    I've a bit confused.
I have a Signum with a CD70 MP3 and have burnt a few CDs with MP3 tracks on.
On some disks, I get the Track name from the Meta Data and on others I get the Filename itself.
On one disk, I have several folders and some give the Track name and others give the filename.

I've looked at the setup of the files and folders but cannot see the difference.

Has anyone got an idea why this could be happening or what I can do to always show the track name from the meta data.

It must be the way the CD is written not the Stereo becuase it's different even on the same disk.

    Thanks in advance

    Bit of a strange one.

I assume that you have used the same method and program settings to make up your MP3 disks.

The CD70 is quite particular about MP3 CD's, as even the manufacture of disk makes a massive difference.

I use an odd program called Music Match..came with a small mp3 player, but I believe a lot of other use one of those itunes / ipod software packages.

There is no reason why there should be a difference in the way files are shown, or not, unless you have some form of audio version of a "thumb-nail" style tag attached to one disk, but not the other

I believe the CD70 is very sensitive to both the quality of the disc and whether it was written by Windows or a thrid party program. It tends not to like cheap discs and Windows writing techniques for some reason...

I'm fed up with mine spitting out CDs. It's the NAV unit but I can live without it and will be changing to my Apline unit that runs my iPod.

I've learnt that cheap disks are just not worth it.
I end up chucking more than I can use.
I hear what you are saying Robsey that the program and disk can make a difference as to how the file is written.
I've tried Windows inbuilt, Media player and Nero.

However, It doesn't really explain the different folders on the same disk burnt at the same time has different results.
The only thing I can find is that the ones which do not work have a bit rate or 320kbps where the ones which do seem to be 220 or less (Most 192)
Surely this can't make a difference?

Why can't it just read the m3u track list instead of the meta data?

The software on the CD70 is from the Ark. Very old, very naff.

My CD70 has a dodgey CD drive, and often spits even good discs out...it needs a new cd drive or laser sledge..but I haven't found a source for either.
I did look at using a salvage CD30 CD drive, but this is a different make and mounting, so won't fit.

All my files are straight folders, with .mp3 file formats

mp3 files need to have the ID3 tag in order to see the track artist and title or else, file name is displayed. Mine works if i have id3 tags on mp3 files. But the CD70 is naughty, won't read discs .

until now the only discs that work are TDK RW and SONY RW
and commonly CD-R discs just SONY, nothing else. Imation will work from 3 tries , you get invalid cd or cd error when you insert it, so with others.

anybody discovered other brands that work ? I'm thinking that could be also a software problem, mine is 2005 , i will upgrade to 2007 cd70 software and see if something changes

I have updated to 2007 software, with no improvement in mp3 readability.

For some reason, the only CD that the CD70 will read everytime is my Paul Weller album...other artists get spat out straight away...even on the same make and spec of media.

The radio obviously has better musical taste than me

I've been using asda's own branded disc and works fine.
I write everything with windows media 11 and don't have any probs with that either.
    Maybe i am just lucky?

    - I use cheapo Verbatim CDs
    - Windows Media to burn the CDs

Never had a problem with not reading the CD or spitting out the CD.

In fact, i'm grateful it has MP3 capability (on a 2005 model car). It was an unexpected bonus for me - initially I was disappointed when i couldnt locate a multi-changer in the car...
