    Default ESP

Hi, New to this forum. Used to have Corsa VXR but did direct swap for 1.9CDTi elite as just had second baby and needed bigger car. After some research discovered my Vectra doesnt have any sort of TC or ESP which is a bit worrying for a car this size!! I talked to Vauxhall and they said you can retrofit so rang dealer and they said you cannot. Who is right?? Can this be done or is the car not set up for it. Was hoping sensors and wiring would be in place and would only need switch and tech 2. Any help welcome, Ta Paul

All Vectra's (as far as I know) have what's called "steering assist" which is a basic traction control, you can't turn it off though. Throw it hard enough round a corner and you should see the little triangular light on the dash click on and off as it kicks in.

Some have the electronics fitted for the switch to turn this on and off, some don't it's pot luck, you can buy the switch and plug it in and it "might" work, some do.

As for retrofitting the full ESP pack, I honestly don't know but someone here will be able to tell you.

Facelift Vectra's built from October 25th 2005 have no form of ESP or TC, so escortjoyboy is right in what he is saying.

In theory, retro fitting TC can be done but not ESP. To fit TC you need to buy a new ABS control module, this is the part under the bonnet with the brake pipes coming out and go off in various directions.

The loom is not there either. It really is not worth doing. The Vectra is a very capable car and I didn't really think it was needed.
