I have seen a 2004(53) plate Vectra 2.2 Dti for sale in Leeds.
I have viewed and test drove car although it hasn't been valleted yet.
The car has full service history about 5 services in 59,000 miles approx. every 10-12k miles, it does need a good clean inside and out. On test drive I drove it hard from 2nd gear right through to 4th at full revs and no problems or whistling or whining heard. In fact I could feel the wheels spinning a little in second so no power problems. I have a New Shape 1.4 petrol Astra at the minute with similar mileage and found it to be very similar to drive. My Astra is ever so slightly smoother, I found the Vectra tyres a bit noisier than the Astra but at speed found the Vectra to be a lot quieter even with no radio. I always turn my radio up in the Astra at motorway speed because its such a small engine.
It might have just been me but I thought I could hear a really faint beeping from the glove box area. The radio wasn't working due to code it looks like the previous owner has removed radio to disconnect phone and holes at side of radio seem to confirm this.
Can anyone give me advice as for what problems or niggles to look out for?
Is the Vectra a good choice over my Astra? I have had a few problems with the Astra, Handbrake knackered, Lambda sensor replaced, handbrake cables seized and I only get 320 miles to a full tank of fuel on mostly motorway runs about 30 miles a day.
