Dodgey GID Screen

Hi All,

Possibly more for folk who do screen mods etc...

Well as the picture shows, I have a GID (Monochrome Graphic Info Display) with alpha code DD (Full Can pre facelift) 54 to 55 plate vehicles.

The problem I have is that I am getting a light coloured swirl effect upon my screen...I am assuming that something internal is going AWOL.

The mark took approx 1 month to get to it's currnet state, and seems to get slightly worse each time the screen is used.

I can still see everything quite well, but the mark looks quite cack!!

If I look closely at the mark, the screen appears to have two layers.
An illuminated level, between the led panel and the front screen.
Then there is a front layer upon which all the text and graphical symbols appear.
It is the rear illuminated layer that is tatered.
The text / graphical layer is perfect.

Does anyone have a simple method of repair (unlikely),
or a donor screen section for sale, where something else is knackered such as the circuit board, so that I can transfer and solder the good donor screen panel onto my rather poorly display unit.

Saves having to mess with Tech 2 etc...

Any ideas or offers

Robsey screen is shot mate , good thing is you can take a half canbus screen and plug it in with a little bit of modding on the 2 white wires , it will be fine.

Yeah thought as much,

I knew that I was really looking for a donor screen, with a knackered PCB...one that someone had cooked the LED's on or something...
Would be a lot cheaper than buying a working GID from ebay.

I also knew that it would be yourself or Bigmac that would respond...being the screen guru's on the forum

Also my GID is paired to my CD70 , but also to a car which was stripped and crushed before it could be tech 2 divorced...hence I don't know the relevant audio pass code to divorce and marry any new screen to!! (although I do have the original vehicle reg and chassis number, but that is more expense from VX to get an audio pass).

As others said looks like the lcd is starting to go. You might be able to source just the lcd.

No one got a GID with okay screen but fried LED panel or damaged main PCB then?

The pcb section is no use to me...as stated above, I need to retain my current PCB as it is that, that is paired to my CD70 !
