Question To change to a Vectra or Not

    Hi All

Currently looking at replacementing our Astra 1.7cdti 100bhp SRI Sport hatch, before that we had a 1.7cdti 80bhp Club model in black. Now i am going to be changing the car in July one way or another and i am considering staying with the Astra but i am also interested in a Vectra.

I was considering was a 2009 1.8 sri Vectra they seem to be a good enough car at seem to be able to get an 09 model for about £8500 that is alot of car for the money :-) Not that worried about the mpg as the price difference in an Diesel and a Petrol version would more than cover fuel costs for a good while.

Anyway as Vectra owners what would everyone recommend. Is the 1.8 worth buying i figure with like 7-8k on the clock on an 09 plate £8500 seems well worth it

    Thanks All

    Richard

Just got rid of my 1.8 vvti and hated it with a vengence.
Jerky gear changes, juddering clutch, lack of power, stupid indicators, firm ride, noisy tyres, bad fuel economy and noisy engine.Other than that it was greatNot.....
Why do you think they are so cheap?

    I'll get my coat.....

ive not long got rid of my 3.0v6 and it was a great car but was to small for my needs and had started to fall apart but it was getting old ...the car ive had is a nearly new vw bassed product ..it is a great car but it isnt actually as good as the vec in some area's its the small things that count ..little bits that work so much better on the vec make it a very good car ....i would say go for a late diesel with a high spec and i dont think you will go wrong .....i keep driveing my new car and keep thinking oh the vectra had that or the vectra part did that a little better than that .......but such is life i spose i needed a bigger car .........

I would say have a test drive in a 1.8 and give it some, plenty of power IMO for everyday driving and should see 35mpg average.
Reliable engine, low servicing costs, good mpg for a big car, cheapish insurance, sri best looking large car for the money.
The age you're looking would be under warranty aswell
Mines on 135k now and sweet as a nut.

I've just got rid of my vectra to buy an astra although the vectra (2.0 t) is a nice car to drive there was a lack of feel and exitement so I traded it in for an astra, I'm finding this more of a drivers car and it's put a smile back on my face

I've had my Vectra 1.8 vvti two weeks on sunday, and so far I'm really impressed with it. Absolutely no idea what its doing mpg wise as i'm still on my first tank (whatever it is, its gona be alot better than my Shogun was).
Its smooth, quiet and as previously stated, I'd agree that its has enough power.

    Hope that helps
