    Default EGR info

    Hi could any 1 tell me on a 2.2 dti 03 egr whether i should be able to push the piston back by hand its the egr with the 2 pipe connectors on thanks

    HI SPM
    the piston should be closed when you remove egr,have you cleaned inside ,the piston is closed with a spring when the electro magnet feed circuit is closed,also check inside inlet manifold it will probably need a good clean

    cheers jonny ,ye the piston was closed and ive give it a good clean but wounderd if i should be able to push the piston back to see if it was seized to see if it was stuck in the closed position .

    if you ease of the green plastic cover (be carefull lifting the plastic clips or they will break)it slides off,you can then turn the actuator hook and the piston will disengage from the piston,you can then clean piston and hook,make sure the steel roller is free,I use brake cleaner and a small wire brush on my dremell,put copper slip on piston shaft,hook ,and roller,job done.

    it sounds fiddley but it's ok,just be carefull as i say with the plastic lugs,use a small screw driver lift them one at a time and ease of cover

    thanx jonny will give that a go soon just need to get codes read somewhere cheap lol then try sort out my mpgs got it up from 32 to 38 on mixed mway and town after air filter and oil n filter change , thinking of tackling fuel next lol

    my Signum 2.0 dti doe's 43 to 46 depending how big your boot's are as a guide

    if you have an op-com there is a section in there where you can test the EGR movement
