Default CDTi Sump Plug - Oil Change

Thought a new thread title on here would be useful for people searching for CDTi sump plug problems...

Having just had the car off the road for much longer than I expected for a simple oil/filter change my advice is:
    • Try using a 1/2" socket to remove it. 13mm can be a loose fit.
    • If you have to use a 13mm socket, particularly a 12-sided one, buy a replacement plug and washer first... Six quid something well spent.
    • If it hasn't been out before it might be be b tight and a b to remove.
    • When refitting don't crank it up too much.
Or take it to a garage

My GSi was a torx too. I think they were used interchangably - maybe. Mine was no problem. Lucky, I guess.

I bought a spare before I took mine out, though - £4 at a local motor factor, washer included! Bargain!
