Next day, light on and misfiring, phoned on but no one there on a Saturday afternoon.

Default 2.32 direct timing chain/ tensioner replacement

    Rotten luck.
I'm on 56,00 miles and have been thinking about replacing the timing chain/ tensioner for a few months now. What's the thoughts on doing it as a DIY job? Is it straightforward on the 2.2 direct or best left to a seasoned mechanic?

Forgot to mention that I've read the Haynes Manual on it and it reads rather daunting.

What!!!! I was told it's approx 4 hrs to change the chain and tensioner. Just had mine done as the tensioner stuck. Vauxhall paid 70% of the bill even though I was 8 months out of manufacturers warranty.

    See http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=104735 for details.

They need to re-read the labour times in TIS then, as its listed as a 4 hour job if i read it correctly.

Dealer rang tonite to tell that they were going to lift the head and check for damage tommorrow. That will cost nearly £400. Any damage will cost on top of that.
They will ring tommorrow with a price for the works. Then we do battle!
