Airbag Warning Light

Hi All,

Looking for a bit of help here.

The Airbag warning light on my Signum would come on when I was reversing then come to a stop to go forward.
It was not on when I initially selected reverse, it would only come on after I had come to a stop to move forward and then it would stay on.

The next time I would go to use the car it would be off. Sometimes if I was moving off slowly and stop it would come on and remain on.

Its now on all the time. I have a friend who plugged in his diagnostic tool which shows the following fault- Driver Airbag Squib Circuit (Stage1) High Resistance.

Anyone any ideas on how to fix this, I have tried the connections under the seat which appear solid enough.

Hope I have put this in the right section, if not please fell free to move.

im sure the squib is the main bit behind the airbag if im not mistaken ! i remeber it being rather expensive to fix aswell unfortunatley

Indeed, the squib is the pyrotechnic gas generator (explosive charge) in the airbag unit.

An old classic with Senator and Omega driver's airbags was the plug that fits into the back of the airbag unit becoming loose in time. The fix was easy enough:

Ignition off, disconnect battery and leave for about an hour to allow system to fully discharge. From rear of steering wheel, unscrew two airbag mounting screws. Allow airbag to tilt forward, firmly push plug home until it clicked into place. Refit airbag in reverse order. Pop to local garage to have airbag light cancelled.

How relevent to the Vectra/Signum a similar procedure is, I can't say. What I will say though, is that many systems will switch off the airbag system should any fault occur, thus leaving you without the extra protection in the event of an impact. It may also affect your insurance should you knowingly leave a safety system inoperative.

I would disconnect the battery leave for a bit then disconnect and reconnect the main harness plug under the drivers seat a few times. This is generally the problem with these.

If the fault clears, the light will go out and normal airbag deployment will occur if necessary.

Is there also a wiring set under the passenger seat? I've just discovered an intermittent Airbag light on my 07....

I'm gona give this a go tonight or tomorrow. When I go to reconnect the battery lead does anything have to be reset etc? Or do I just reconnect and off I go???

As yours is a 2007 it won't need the radio code - as it won't have one. You may have to reprogram the electric windows.

what about them needs to be reprogrammed? Pardon the noobishness!!!

The auto close feature. I believe its in the manual but you would just need to hold the button on them until they are fully open, then hold the button until they are fully closed making sure you hear the motors stop in both positions.
