    Default The Lowdown!

Well, in view of The Vectaru's recent twitchy, and, to be honest, frankly downright frightening behaviour I have decided that in order to restore safety and harmony in the Drinky household, I shall be treating her to a new set of shocks and springs. I am also thinking that whilst I am at it, it would be nice to drop her a few mm .

As ususal, trying to do things on my tightwad budget, and, browsing various mags and websites we have found these guys www.venommotorsport.com who produce their own complete kit (lowering 40mm) for only £199!! (unfortunately not showing on the website at present, but is available)

Big question is - I had fully expected to pay Koni/Spax prices of about £360 - has anyone used/any knowledge of Venom stuff? Seem too good a price to be true, but I would rather not spend my hard-earned on rubbish!!

Second question, given my lovely front splitter - can anyone else here who has dropped 40m answer my other main worry - can you still get up the ramps to multi storey carparks?!?!?!? I would love her to be low and lovely, but if at the end of the day we are resigned to fighting for a parking space on the ground floor at 10 am on a Saturday, there will be hell!!!

I've had my eye on the Venom gear for a while, that kit + the other one they advertise at £280 (vipertech dropshox), as you get a lifetime warranty on that stuff, but at the mo i have a very tight budget so i've put the new suspension on hold

I seem to remember Carl Bear saying he had used the Venom kit on his old Corsa though, & that it was good and Venom themselves were good to deal with !

I'll be interested to hear how you get on with your search for a new suspension as it is still on my 'to do' list

Did carl bear not use FK coilovers on his corsa or does he have then on the veccy? Anyway, dont know if I would worry to much about the price. I bought a full Bilstein kit for a golf I had & I paid about £240 & everyone knows the reputation of Bilstein

i had venom shocks and springs on my corsa first, then i swapped them for fk coilovers (just because i wanted it lower than 60mm). the venom stuff was very good, i would use them again if i needed to. and they are excellent to deal with, very fast delivery etc.

ive got kw coilovers on my vectra at the minute.

    hope this helps

Any lower than 40mm and you would probably start having trouble (and i'd be jealous ). You will find with a bit of practice what kind of inclines you can tackle safely and which ones you have to tiptoe around. The Vectra just loves to be dropped and stiffened a little (ooer) handling improves considerably.
