Pay the £250 extra, it's not a lot and you will be getting a more valuable car.
Don't pay a penny extra - they won't argue about 250 quid if you say thats all you are prepared to do and you are prepared to do it right now, and take the diesel... and yes, "chippable" they certainly are :-D
I can't see how £250 is a problem when you're getting a car worth over £1500 more than the one you've paid for.... get it done, the 1.8's will be worthless in time anyway.
for £250 its well worth it with those other extras ..not a deisel man myself but have heard the 1.8 petrol is way under powered ...........
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO do it
Rang the dealer back and had a bit more moan. I explained that I knew it was not his fault and that Vauxhall 'should' be helping out here. He said that they had agreed to refund a large amount of the difference but not all of it so the dealer had to loose money on the car to keep me happy.
They have now agreed to add 2 full tanks of fuel and a Diamondbrite type of product. a set of mats and either a Bury or Parrot car kit. I think this is too good to turn down now at this price, especially for the diesel that I can chip !
Cheeky gits, It's not your fault you are in this dilemma. I personally wouldn't pay an extra penny. You haven't even had the car yet and you are getting S&it customer service.
If you really want a Insignia there are plenty of a few month old ones available which have already taken the huge deprecation hit.
Save yourself £££££££ and tell the dealer to stick it.
As for the 1.8 being underpowered, The 130bhp diesel won't be any better, You might get better fuel economy certainly no better performance.
Why anyone would want to chip a new car is beyond me, If you want performance buy the 2.0 T petrol.
What is beyond me is people that don't get chipping diesels..... yeah the 2.0T has the performance, but also about 25mpg A decent remap on the 130 oil burner will give it very good performance (way beyond the 1.8) but will still give 40+ mpg.
If you want performance AND economy then diesel (and potential chip/remap) is the only way to go.
To be honest thats too good a deal to refuse, the two tanks of fuel will cost you over 100 quid alone!
Yes, agree so I have went for it. The only small thing that bothered me is that it has the cd30 stereo while the one I was waiting for had the cd40 or cd400 whatever it is. I think it is basically the same but has a bigger display.
Maybe I can find one somewhere ?
Just need to suss out if I can retrofit the basic Bluetooth kit rather than getting them to fit a Parrot or Bury kit so I can use the wheel controls.
