Default 1.9 CDTI 150 problems - worry when?

Hi all, had an 08 facelift Vectra C since January, I'm disabled and need it to be reliable.
I'm a bit concerned about all the posts of swirl pot and other expensive engine faults. Mine's only done about 14,000 miles. Is ther any particular point at which to start worrying big time? I saw one post said you either get a good one or a bad one, so far mine's been good, but after decades of 17mpg 6 cylinder classic petrol cars this is my first modern diesel and I don't know what to expect. Cheers, Ian

To be honest m8 it may not affect you - the swirl flap problem that is as I think Vauxhall corrected the manifold in July '07 but not 100%.

If your car was affected - God forbid - the car would still drive and mpg may suffer slightly.

The drive module could pack up (not a common fault) making the car usuable but then any electrical item in any engine could let you down.

The swirl flap problem is poor bearings which allow the operating rod to fall off.

This is a question I've been wondering, have they sorted most of the issues in later models? Does anyone have a list of the changes made since the facelift was released in 05 to the end of production last year? I've also been looking for a list of common faults in both the 150 diesel and the 1.8 vvt but I cant seem to find much. Any pointers greatly appreciated.

The bar is of my swirl flaps on the manifold and it's driving well (touch wood),I did try the different methods of fixing it back on but she kept kicking it off.I was unlucky when the water pump failed,I brought it too a young mechanic and he didn't notice the signs and what could happen, timing belt slipped, some damage done.I was speaking to a very experienced mechanic recently and he reckoned they give trouble around 60,000 on the clock.
