    Default Check control system

On my previous Vectra 'b' with mid the check control system was quite self explanatory really... the check display became brighter and a message would re-appear from time to time needing acknowledgment until you fixed the problem, new bulb, top up washer, etc, etc.

On my 'c' with the board display (MID) i.e. orange pixels on a dark screen background what sort of display do you get out when one of the checked items goes wrong?

There's no check run through ending in the 'brake light check' warning like there used to be so just wondering what to expect?

Handbook does say that check display is present with board display but examples given are for the fancier colour display.

You get a warning on the board computer.... and also on the little screen on the dashboard (the same one that shows when the doors are open).

    Hope that makes sense?

Does it just say 'washer bottle' or 'bulb' or whatever in the area that it normally says 'stop watch' or 'ave speed'? Just trying to get a feel for what it would look like. Has anyone got any pics of the board showing a fault? Also, what does it display in the little screen in the dash?

See this post for an example of the message shown when a brake lamp failure is detected. The other warnings are similar. Also a graphic of a bulb outline with an exclamation mark (!) inside will be shown on the little screen.

Unlike the Vectra B, the C can detect bulb failures without actually turning the bulbs on ("cold" bulb testing). So it doesn't need to wait until the brake pedal is pushed before testing a brake bulb.

If you want to see what one of the warnings looks like, an easy way is to remove one of the brake light bulbs and then turn the car on.

Thanks Steve for the very interesting reply.

My screen isn't like the one in the link though, it's the one that looks more like the Vec 'b' one, i.e. quite large orange pixels.

Apologies for bringing an old thread back to life!

I've searched though different bits but dont seem to find the definitive answer...

I have the light bulb warning lamp currently on - does this give a generic warning about any defective rear bulb or is it specific to the brake bulbs?

Found a blown brake bulb and have done a temp swap with the reverse bulb but the warning light is still on?!
