    Unhappy Random Power Loss -

Hi, I have recently purchased a 54 1.9 CDTI SRI, it has had a new clutch and flywheel fitted recently, for some reason sometimes when i put my foot down the turbo doesnt seem to kick in and it sluggishly accelerates and other times the turbo kicks in, it flies! then turbo seems to go dead and then kicks in again? seems to be worse in the lower gears but it definately happens in all gears, I can hear the turbo winding so it seems to be doing its job and also ive got no warning lights or anything?

what would be my best bet? is this a common problem?

    any help would be appreciated

    cheers

Have a good check around the vacuum hoses especially to the turbo.
Would also be worth giving your EGR and boost sensor a clean. See the How 2's on the site.

Check for splits, if you run your finger over the pipe you sometimes get a black sooty mark which can indicate the pipe is leaking. If you lift the bonnet and look down, between the radiator and exhaust you will see the heat shield over the turbo.

Hi Guys, managed to fix it! it was the bit of the engine underneath the EGR valve, clogged up with lots of black stuff, the guy who did it for me also took off something on the right hand side 3 bolts and then used an airline to blow it out, hope this helps someone else
