    Default Re map

I can't decide if to get my 150bhp vec c re mapped, would it cause any reliability issues,my thoughts are that I dont want to start playing about with it and bringing problems on myself if it's running fine and because I've got it re mapped it's causing me probs

Obviously no-one can say that upping a cars power will not cause any issues at all, but there are a few do's and don'ts with regards to tuning the CDTi that can help.

First of all, a (more so with these) box and a remap will show any underlying issues with the car, so it may bring to light an issue that it already has a bit sooner i.e. injector issues, DMF faults etc.

Also, for reliability its best to go with the tried and tested routes, i.e. BSR, EDS etc for their remaps. There are a few threads on here about people thoughts after maps so is worth a good root about to get some info

As said above. I have had BSR remap on my car (150 CDTi) for 2 years now without one single issue. Drives like a dream. I always put the original map on for MOT. A bit extreme maybe but it does make you really appreciate how good the remap is once it goes back on.

well ive just had mine remapped by chiptuners and to be honest with you its quick i think!!! but found the box which connects to the common rail gave me loads of power low end. Im still not 100 pecent happy with the remap unless i get reading from a rolling road.

If you have found a box that connects to the common rail, it hasn't been re-mapped. They have added a tuning box not a re-map.

    Yes, leave it alone.

The 3.0 is not good for tuning, they don't like it. The fuel pump is the weak link on the 3.0. Mine was re-mapped by EDS and after 1/2 hour the pump went. At £2400 for a new pump it's not worth messing.

Stick with the well known re-maps, as said, BSR, EDS, Courtenay. These three companies are the best without a doubt.

    I have had 4 1.9 CDTi 150's, all were re-mapped.

    1st Vectra was Superchips
    2nd Vectra was EDS
    3rd Astra this time, BSR
    4th Signum BSR

My brother in law has the Courtenay map on his Vectra 1.9 150.

I covered 30,000 miles a year in mine along with towing as well and the re-maps never gave a moments bother.

fastfeldt, give Mid Point Garage a ring, its afair trip from reading but worth it, had my preface done there on 60K miles been fine and it is brilliant, the SCVs will go wether you remap or not just budget for them to go at aroud 80K miles, i am on 78K so getting ready.

Sorry mate, I took the box off when the guy remapped it. I found that the box gave more power at low end. I really think the box made the car quicker.

    Sounds like a poor remap.

A box's power delivery is pretty much on/off where a decent map is smooth and progressive, this makes the box "feel" quicker but on the road, remaps are that bit better (as some on here have shown).
