Default EML + swirl valve bar off..what needs replacing

Had the dreaded EML come on this morning. Recently had EGR valve replaced and so suspected it was the pesky swirl valve linkage as thanks to this site had already noticed it was a tad loose. The whole bar is not off but half of it is (first two from the left). It's not all bad news though as thankfully I paid for AA breakdown repair cover. AA have been, I pointed it out, he wrote a report and taking into dealers today. They can't look at it til wednesday so it gives me a chance to find out exactly what needs doing. Along with the new inlet manifold what else should be done??

Its not the bar that causes the EML, its the swirls have worn out so much that they leak air. The ECU picks up on this and throws up the light. The bar is just a side effect of it being worn out.

Needs a new Inlet manifold and swirl valve actuator.

Cheers mate! Is it standard practice to replace the manifold AND the actuator or could dealer pull a fast one and say it only needs new manifold?

The actuator is a one time use motor, when you connect it and switch the ignition on it programs itself to the movement of the swirl cups, Supposidly it cannot be used on a different manifold, I have heard of ppl just doing the manifold and dealers saying the motors not needed but I didn't fancy removing it all again just for the sake of a £150 motor.

Is it being done under warranty? if so its in the technical reference, recommended by Pierberg to change both the manifold and the actuator.

No it's out of warranty but I do have AA breakdown repair cover. How much would I be looking at for the manifold, actuator and labour?? Should I chase VX to make a contribution towards the cost??
