    Default inlet manifold day!

Ok guys its 'replace the manifold day tomoz!!, any tips or tricks to ease the job ?, Where's the best location to drain the coolant from ?, It only needs to come half way down the block realistically, While im at it! the failed swirls are quite worn!, and i have a LOT of oil deposits in the manifold valley, So where is it coming from ??, I don't need to top up in between changes, and it must be coming via the inter cooler, so therefore am i correct in thinking its by-passing the turbo seal ? Is it common to have much oil as mine is quite a bit , i know they get gunky but this is OILY.

    Default

it seems quite a job but you can do it diy not sure if you can do it without taking the timing belt off???

the oily deposits come from the egr valve and it is mixed up with soot and also oil from the breather so its normal to see it if your manifold has failed

also when changing your manifold i would suggest a new egr valve def a new swirl motor s these should be changed with the manifold and if you have funds a new boost sensor if it looks bad
also new manifold seal and be sure to get all the old seal off and not to chip or scratch the face of the block

    hope this helps mate

any advise will be taken on board!, and Ive been routing for bits, it can be done without taking the cam belt of, but I'm unsure regarding the oil deposits, it will not come from the egr as this is of hot dry sooty deposits, the oil separator/breather as i can see don't come in to it, that just leaves the inter cooler pipe witch as i presumed was a seeping turbo seal ?, just need some feed back from some who have had this to see if they left it or looked into it.

No problems but its a pig of a job!, i would allow a full day, the oil separators a git to get off, diesel pump was easy but care has to be taken, overall if your not competent with mechanics i wouldn't tackle it, i also fitted the fiat semi blanking egr gasket with no problems , she's running sweet!. TOTAL parts 1 inlet manifold, 1 gasket, 1/2 doz jubilee clips i already had, TOTAL cost £104. .

Nothing other than an inlet manifold and gasket and assorted jubilee clips, if you have the right tool for undoing and redoing up the vx clips you can re-use them all, but i found it took to long messing about with them.

Did you not change the actuator that controls the Swirls?

NO!, you realy dont have to, and most vauxhall dealers dont, im always in at the local vx spares counter and they order just a manifold and a gasket when they do the job, they even re-use all of the hose clips. if vx do it then so can we.
