    Default Help!!

    hi everyone
    ive had my vectra c for nearly a year now and was changing the wheels and noticed and oil leek there is oil everywhere engine oil hasnt gone down i check it regular but i checked gearbox and none comes out or is visible realy worried about it being realy costly

    As long as your engine and gearbox oils, brake fluid and coolant levels are all good and staying there, I'd give the area concerned a damn good jetwash to get rid of the splatter, then keep a close eye on the area to see if anything comes back. It might just be left from the previous owner.

    As Handyandy says - I would give the whole area a good clean. Even a small weep can look like a major problem if left to spread. Once clean run up and take for a spin if needed and check.

    Check all the piping connected and clips tight, checking around turbo (depending on engine), rocker cover gaskets etc.

    engine oil is ok .a mate checked gearbox with a split pin or something to find oil level in gearbox and couldnt find any does it sit close to the top? im just going of his word

    Depends on your gearbox model, but in general the gearbox oil should be at the level of the filler plug - CHECK THE GUIDE FOR YOUR SPECIFIC GEARBOX BEFORE GOING BY THIS.

    the gear box oil should be at the filler plug level u should be able to take the plug out and it should drip if not put some in and see how much it swallows that could be ur problem

    be carefull!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, dont get filling it up willy nilly!, take professional advise or from a competent person who is 100% sure. over filling causes as much problems as it bieng low.

    ive found the gearbox to be low and i topped it up i cleaned the engine and have located a leek that seems to be coming from the final drive cover plate is this normal does the gasket go there?

    Sounds like it might benefit from being drained... output shaft seal replaced, any gaskets replaced and refilled with lovely fresh g/box oil.

    output shaft seal? do you have to use vauxhall oil? its red or something :s
