    Default A/C spin up noise

When I first press the A/C button (after sitting for X number of hours) it makes a spin up type noise like pressure is being achieved but slightly grating sounding. After 2 seconds the noise will pass and it does not come back until left overnight etc. If you turn it off for a while and then back on this noise will not happen.

A/C is cool and woking although not as cold nor quick acting as my B veccy although it has been very hot of late.

Also the load placed on the engine is more then on my 2.0 vectra B.

The A/C has been in use frequently over the years.

    2.2 petrol

Try having it regassed first, by a specialist company.

If you still have a problem at least you know its not down to a lack of gas.

I'd say you are low on gas but not entirely empty. Different cars produce different symptoms when this happens.

Thats what I was thinking as the noise is a build up of pressure (maybe not) and why its not as cold as it should be. Although it is cold.

    Cheers

Sound like you need a re-gass.

My car was doing this, plus the aircon was ****. Found somebody on the net. Came out to my work next day, re-gass for £49 or service & Re-gass for £59.

    It works great now.

You should hear it engage, but it's not an alarming sound, if you have a bad sound coming from it, get someone to turn it on while you listen to the pulley, it should be on the drivers side of the engine at the front, just forward of the timing chain.

Yup, only making the noise when the aircon started. Once the pressure was there the noise stopped.

Not sure how much load it put on the engine as I only turned it on once I was going.
