    Default Air con hiss

    Hi guys
just noticed today that when i put my air con on i get a "hiss" sound that does not go away till i turn the A/C off again.

I know she need a re gas as the air aint cold.
I had alot of A/C problems on my last Astra got it regases at nationwide autocare centre and the compressor stopped working and they still tries to charge me £75 i had a fight with the guy who then let me go free of charge and told me to go to this guy further up the road in Northampton and they were spot on. it would not start the compressor as nationwide autocare had over gassed the system till the point it nearly damaged the A/C forever he removed some gas and checked for leaks and charged me £60 which was fine as i had freezing air again.

I would take it back to them but i live in Scotland.
any help on the noise as i don't want to pay fro a regas if the compressor is duff.

You could try popping in to KwikFit and having them bung it on their aircon machine.... if there is a leak it will not pass pressure test and you shouldn't be charged.
A rather dodgy home 'test' to see if there is any pressure in the system at all is to momentarily open one of the filler points with a small screwdriver or similar - a word of warning though... the R134a in the system is nasty stuff so if you're considering this one you should protect all exposed skin, do it outside in the fresh air and I really am talking pressing one of the filler point valves for a fraction of a second.

The definitive answer though would be to seek a decent aircon specialist in your area.
