Default Blew a tyre, need a quote for the most expensive I can find now!

I hit a massive pothole tonight on the M80 at 70mph, didn't see it to the last second, and knew straight away the damage would have caused a catastrophic failure so let the car slowly decelerate under engine braking

Reported it to the Police, "Yes, we are aware of that and the roads agency are due to repair it within 24 hours"
Fair enough people will see it when day light returns, but overnight other vehicles might hit it

Went back along the M80 and got a photograph of the pothole, which was entirely across lane 1 and measured 5 to 15cm wide and at least 10 cm deep in the tread path
Clearly a material interface defect, Category A

As I got back to my car a Police Car arrived, "Good grief, there's not much left of that"
The officer got on his radio, "Better get a lane closure, as that is now the fourth vehicle to hit this same pothole on the M80 tonight"

Had the car uplifted by the AA and it is now outside my local tyre dealer
Sent all the photos to the Tyre Insurance
Now, they pay for the FULL costs of a new tyre
I normally pay £110 for a Good Year F1 Assymetric 225/45R17 94Y, but if I can find the most expensive quote, then they will pay that (as they have done in the past!)
The most expensive I can find is National Tyres at £154.50, can anyone beat that?

I'm not concerned about Transport Scotland paying for it, I have Tyre Insurance (have had since 2004) so I receive full payment within 28 days

Sorted now, claim authorised for one replacement tyre
Due to be fitted on Monday for £115
Sadly the local tyre fitter didn't quiet understand what I was on about sending the insurer a quote for £150 (the policy limit per tyre)
Laughed about it afterwards, "Will know for next time, we can split the difference"

The tyre was taken off and the alloy inspected
There is moderate damage, but the alloy is not cracked
Put the damaged tyre back on, and it sits correctly now (albeit flat)
They did that so that they could move the car to a more suitable location

We are really lucky if the council pays if you have a problem due a road deficiency. In Spain this is impossible.

Looks like this problem has come back to haunt me

The "new" nearside front tyre has one bulge in it
This suggests the alloy is actually damaged, so I now need to arrange for it to be inspected

The nearside rear also has one bulge in it, but much smaller
This may have been caused by the original impact

Equally, these may have been caused by a more recent impact

I can't see the tyre insurance being too happy when I phone them on Monday for two tyres!

pot holes are a ***** at the min i swaped the 18inc option wheels it came with for a set of late elite 17inc wheels to help. Our council refuses to pay as they said if it isn't reported how can they fix it so when people write about the damage then they will fix the road

As above, this wasn't a "normal" pot hole

It eventually transpired from the report I received from Transport Scotland that it was Category A surface defect on the Motorway, which resulted in eight other vehicles also suffering similar tyre failures

It was bad enough to destroy the original tyre at 70mph
I had my doubts about the alloy
Sadly though I can't tell whether this latest damage is from that or is newer
