    Default CID with aftermarked stereo..

    Hi Guys

    ive been seaching around the site and havnt found out...

    Will a prefacelift CID work with the BC and all.

    When the NCDC is removed (not CD70 or simular).. or will it work if i just get a steering wheel adaptor, as you can get with most aftermarked radios?

    as im thinking of keeping my CID, but skip the NCDC.

    No guesses please.. only people that have tried..

    (i have not seached the german forums.. as im not that perfect in german)

    I'm on the fence with this as i believe it might not work reason for this is all full can cars have the ability to access BC via steering controls where as half cans have to have either a wiper stalk or NCDC radio this acts as a bridge between radio and screen.
    All though with a NCDC fitted you can access BC via controls but with a wiper stalk fitted its all done via stalk.
    So cant see how it would work but i have been proved wrong before and i could check with mine but its a pain to remove

    Mine has the GID which works from the stalk (standard when new, not a retrofit) not sure what would happen if I just put in the CID

    GID -> controls via Wiperstalk
    CID -> controls via Buttons on steering wheel

    When i put in my cid it only controls via the steering wheel, hence why i think it might work if you buy the appopriate adaptor from eg pioneer if pioneer radio fittet..

    Bigmac -> i dont think it works if you dont have any headunit fitted..

    anyone very good at german to seach the german forums (other wise ill try the Belgium forum)

    Hey there, i have tried it. Replacing a GID for a CID older type 2013/2015 NCD. Steering control will not work if you have the buttons. So you'll need to change the steeringwheel. Aircoconsole will not work, you'll need a different airco control unit. Further more you will need to change the screen first before you take out he original radio. When you start programming the new screen with tech2 it will ask for the original radio. So bummer for me, i do not afe the original radio anymore.

    My standard setup is a kenwood with stalk adapter and a gid. Works on the steeringwheel buttons, not the scroll type. In order to get a CID to work you will need a;

    Steeringwheel with scroll function
    A airco console later type
    While programming an original radio.

    This summer i will make an other attempt on a cid. Keep you posted.

    It can be done at all, but as I know the only way to do this is to keep the NCDC. For example, my NCDC is in my boot, under the right card (my car is a Signum, have no idea if Vectras have enought place under the cards in the boot), so it is invisible but still there. In a few days on the place of the NCDC in the dashboard I'm going to put an aftermarket multimedia player as I am with CDR 2005 at the moment.
    Unfortunatelly i didn't take pictures of the whole process (I wasn't sure if it 's going to work properly), but it's not difficult. All you need is two wires for the power supply, two for canbus, one for the CID, some wires for the control buttons, as I used a lan cable for the last ones, and a hidden place for the NCDC, as you could remove the changer
    That's how my control buttons looks like (the original ones removed from NCDC)

    Left one - turns on/off the NCDC
    Right one - browsing in the cid menus
    and one more (no pic available) - playing the part of "Main menu" button on the NCDC
