My Insignia 1.8 vvt SRI arrives later next week and I wanted to do a couple of mods and wondered if anyone had done these already.
Firstly, I am going to fit the Corsa VXR indicator surrounds, not because they do anything , they just make it look a bit more sporty.
I wanted to fit the Insignia VXR front grille and colour code it. The dealer said it would not fit but others say that it is a direct swap. I know of someone who has fitted the Irmscher grille to their car and they said that they had to hack the standard grille to bits to fit the Irmscher one. Looking at pictures of the complete VXR grille it looks as though it comes complete with the surround so I hoped that I would simply have to remove the standard grille and fit the VXR one without any 'adapting'. Anyone done this yet ???
The car as far as I am aware comes with no visible tail pipes. I would like to fit twin exit pipes just for appearance. I do not want any noise, too old for that. Does anyone know if this is an easy mod on this model and what parts I would need. I presume all the different models use the same shell so the exhaust mounting points 'should' be already fitted ????
The car is a 2010.5 model so has the upgraded stereo ( CD400 ) This has the option to upgrade to a USB plug which I did not specify. Does anyone know if this is a simple job of fitting a lead to the back of the stereo and feeding it to the centre console ??
I know the older 1.8 engines did not respond well to remaps. Can the Insignia 1.8 vvt engine be mapped with any decent results and has anyone had this done.
Not many questions for a newbie !!
