Clicking noise when turning the heater dial

OK - so when I turn my heater dial to the furthest heat or cool settings, I get a click click click coming from the dash.

It doesn't do it when you vary the temp dial a little - only when going either FULL cold or FULL hot.

The mixer flap is working as it does vary from cold to hot as it should..

Any ideas on what the clicking is and how to fix?

Sounds like one of the teeth has broken off the motor. It is quite common for this to happen on the "recirc" motor too.

When I changed the "recirc" motor it cost about £60 trade. Fitting it was a bit of a pig. But it all depends which one of yours might have gone, and where it is situated. If you do a search for "recirc" motr, you should find some threads. There is one with a photo of the place where it is fitted. It might have show you the other motors too, if they were "in the shot".

go to a smashers!, i got 1 from a nearly new motor was about £10, its a bit fiddly and is located up the left side of the heater box! i think i have a pic!!. it has a broken tooth!, ill try to put a better one of the whole thing.

This is it , its held in place a an angle so may look slightly different, they can be took apart easily as mine shows the common problem!, easy fix if you can get plastic cogs.

Mines doing the same also on Recirc Now too

OK - so does that unit control recirc and heat distribution etc etc all in one? The recirc button operates fine.

How actually do you get too it?

No, I think there are three separate ones: recirculation, heat distribution & vent options. IIRC, the recirc one is the easiest to get to, and that's a a pita, I've heard it's a dash out job for the other two.

If yours clicks with the hot/cold dial this is your prob as above, take out the glovebox and you have to pull down the footwell cover, and its located up on the side of the heater box, you will see a RED arm connected to it.
