    Default CDTI 150 advice please...

    Hello all,

I`ve just suffered the limp-home, loss of power under 2000 revs, P1109 P1110 (AA diagnosis) fault code syndrome...my question is, is this the inlet/swirl/actuator problem? Reading the wealth of knowledge on these boards I`m leaning towards this, but I also noticed that it wont rev over 4k either, so are these codes ever symptoms of something else? EGR was cleaned 1K miles ago, and actually wasn`t stuck at that time anyway. Other symptoms include exhaust smell in cabin, and when in limp mode with the spanner and engine light on it was severely lacking power, hard to even keep at 2000 revs...some angry drivers around on saturday afternoons!! It`s an 04 Vectra 1.9CDTI 150.

Any advice would be much appreciated,
    Cheers!!

    Default more info...

should add, the link bar is still on but loose, valves seem to be moving but they are very wobbly and gunky on top, they look shot! It`s got 122K on the clock.
    Ta!

Do a search m8 as there is a post/thread regading fault code listing somewhere.

Also if you can check the swirl bar is connected and that it moves - by getting someone to rev the engine above 2,500rpm while to look but dont touch the bar, then you will know the swirl bar is not the problem

Exhaust smell in the cabin - I had that very slightly and it may be an air leak.
As it wont rev past 4000rpm, is this just after start up as that is normal.

Also does it go into limp mode after a certain rpm?

    Fault Codes

Ignore the link in post #1 & go straight to post #3

    P1109 IAT - B Sensor Intermittent
    P1110 IAT Sensor (D/C) Open/Short

not that it helps very much - try googling the codes

Thanks for the input so far.

Gazza, yes it went into limp when I tanked it joining the motorway, so I guess higher than tootling revs when it went, when I put it under pressure in 4th.

Swirl linkage is still in place, and valves are all rotating, but as I said they are all bobbing up and down and gunky.

The AA guy phoned his control who gave him the manufacturer-specific result for P1109+P1110, both pointing to swirl valve variable opening, and various posts seem to back that up on here. What I`m wondering is whether there are other faults which could result in the same codes/ symptoms.

I`ve been quoted £560 for manifold, gasket, actuator and labour all-in. Had the ****** DMF+clutch done 2 weeks ago for £480, which was good methinks. Could do without it all at the same time though lol!

    cheers again.

Sounds to me the and Air Leak, mines doen the same and it was the intercooler that had split, but that may no necessarily be the case with yours it could be something as daft as a hose.
