You wont like it, I have had mine for a month, I gotta say that I love the engine and the car its nippy but not as torque-y as the diesel offerings, the fuel consumption is way off a diesel. Round town driving like an old granny i get at max 25mpg and as low as 22mpg driving toe heavy sometimes., on a run im lucky to get 37mpg. I
I agree. I have just swapped my diesel for a 2.2Direct. It looks and drives great , but I'm constantly looking at the 'range' and thinking WHAT????
Although, I do seem to get nearer 30mpg round town, and 40mpg on motorway.
Im still a boy racer at heart but not with my wallet, I could probably get a little better mpg but most of mine are short journeys running the kids about.
Had mine for 8 months now, absolutly love it.
mpg wise i get 26-27 round the doors and just did a motorway trip of 400 miles+ and got it to 39,very happy with that(and mines an auto)
Use the cruise control as much as possible,i find that helps
I don't understand why petrol is compared to diesel so much in this forum.
They are 2 different cars.
If you ask how does a 2.2i petrol compare to other makers 2.2 engines then a average of 30mpg imo is pretty good.
My last car a seat leon 2.0 tfsi only got 22-26mpg and was half the size.
I get 36.7mpg from my 1.8 which is just outstanding for such a big car (and the same as my old 2.0 tdci mondeo)
Petrol or diesel is horses for courses.
Either way imo both are well above average mpg compared to other makers/size cars
Yep i love mine! I have roughly 25ish possibly a little more around town and have been up in the 40 on the motorways...
I have just done a mix of both last weekend and covered around 250 miles and had 38mpg average when i got home
Mine's a 2.2 Auto
25 around town (comstant stop start)
30-35 on local runs (>15 minutes)
36-42 on the motorway (70-80mph)
It's actually a pretty economical engine for what it is designed for (a motorway bound repmobile).
well id be grateful to get 25mpg around town, must be these welsh valleys plays havoc with my fuel consumption
