Radio & car + spannerlight

Following on from the earlier post about car & spanner lights coming on when you turn the ignition on and then disappearing. A 'stored fault rather than a 'current one'.

I found that my radio/CD player had packed up today...would that have caused the car & spanner light to come on?

I checked the fuse, pulled it out and put it back in and hey presto..the radio works

Confused...

The 'spanner light' as you term it, indicates a fault within the electrical or mechanical systems of the vehicle.
The audio based systems (radio, CD/MP3, Nav, Computer) output fault warnings to the display screen (assuming the radio hasn't packed up altogether).
As you've had the EML (Engine Management Light) come on, you'd need to have the codes read to determine why it lit. That however, assumes the fault still exists or you have not had 20 'clean' starts without that fault recurring.
