Well it looks like the dream is all but over.
Got a phone call from the garage i brought the car from today to tell me that the car now needs a cat and another part to do with the throttle.
After nearly 8 weeks of going back and fourth and the garage spending about 2k on trying to put right they are now saying that it's going to have to be a refund.
This has to be the most unreliable car i have ever owned and for all those people that say the 2.0T is one of the most reliable Vectras to own they must be lying.
On the plus side i have just found a GSI that looks tempting but with the issues i have had with the SRI i'm kinda been put off owning a Vectra now. Can anyone give me some advice on what to look out for and if there any problems to be made aware of.

As soon as my money has been refunded the company in question will be named and shamed as they do like taking the mickey (some of you already know where the car come from) so other people don't make the same mistake as i made.

In 8 weeks the list includes everything thats been done.
1. 2 new ecus
2. Throttle body
3. Sensor at the bottom of the intercooler pipe
4. Sensor in the throttle body
5. Starter motor
6. New front discs
7. New front pads
8. New front wishbone
9. New coil spring
10. New shock absorber

They now say that the cat needs replacing, suspected alternator and another part to do with the throttle.
At this moment in time the car idles upto 2500rpm when started, holds the revs up when changing gear and also keeps going into limp mode. Beforehand the car died in a traffic jam so i started back up and the starter motor was constantly engaged, first ecu was faulty and burnt it out.

Theres probably a few more things that have been changed but its just annoying that i told them from the start that the cat was knackered (code p0420 kept coming up) and they change everything else thats nothing to do with the problem.
The garage i brought it from even sent it to Vauxhal, it was there for 2 weeks and even they were useless coz they couldn't even establish what was wrong.

They've spent 2 grand trying to put it right for u, and now there gonna give u refund aswell

Yeah u have, im now carless and about 400 quid out of pocket.
Brought the car on the 26th Jan and i've only had it for about 4 days, the rest of the time it's been with them trying to sort it out.
Now giving refund but now i have no car.
Still think they are decent.

I think you should count your self lucky that they are giving you a refund plus they have spent a bundle of money trying to fix it!!! not many garages would , so rather than naming and shaming I think they should be applauded, as a lot would adopt the policy of "its a second hand motor" which it is of course, and go along the lines of "sold as seen" which obviously they can't

All garages need to give some sort of warranty with every car, think its 90 days but whether its parts and labour or just parts is their discresion IIRC.

I bets if they had put it to a garage that had tech2 in the first place it would have been sorted!

Anyway, not all Vectra's are the same. So many people have had trouble free ownership.

Why, yeah im getting my money back but i can't keep the car. Most people that buy a car from a dealer would have lost their patience a lot sooner than i have, i have been totally reasonable but how would you feel to spend out all that money on buying a car and then not having it.
All work was under warranty but now for other expenses i have incurred over the past weeks i'm still going to be out of pocket.
