Default Anyone recommend a folding bike?

I'm thinking of buying a folding bike. Interested to know if anyone who has one can recommend one or name any to avoid. What are the main things to look for to make it a worthwhile purchase?

Folding bikes are convenient (i.e. compact) but forget using them for a long ride or if you want to enjoy a ride; they dont cut it against a full size bike. VFM is not that good either; you are paying a lot for the frame design.

Well these replies confirm my worst suspicions:
    1. The best ones are incredibly expensive (Big Sig's recommendation) - I could buy a second car for that much!
    2. They're often seen as a joke (andy hare)
    3. They're not as good as a "proper" bike (snap snap)

Perhaps the solution is to buy Big Sig's recommendation but get a part-time job in a circus using a unicycle to pay for it.
