    Default Driving entitlement on licence????

    Just had to renew my drivers licence (photo was 10 yrs old) and was looking over the new one and I see that I can drive B, BE, C1, C1E, D1, D1E, f, k, l, n, p.

    I checked them out and a couple of queries jumped out :- -

    In the dim and distant past I thought that if you passed your test in a manual - it entitled you to drive a manual AND an auto. But if you passed in a auto, you could ONLY drive an auto. If this is still the case (I passed in a manual) why dont I have B + auto on my licence? The description of B in the leaflet doesnt refer to an auto anywhere so from my licence - I cant drive an auto!!! Anyone able to clarify?

    The other thing is the l and n. What are these for? Cant see anything noting what they are and would be interested to see what else I can drive.

    I am VERY relieved to hear that I can drive a lawnmower

    if you pass a manual test you are automatically entitled to drive an automatic - so dont panic

    whereas if you pass with an auto in the information codes on the rear of your photo i.d. you would have code 78 (restricted to vehicles with automatic transmission)

    how many of you have code 115 on your licence and know what it means
    (i do so its a rhetorical question)

    That is a good place for that information to be. I hope it never needs to come into play.

    Ta for the info on the auto thing. Wonder why there is a B + auto category then when it is covered by code 78.

    Found what L and N are

    L = Electric vehicles
    N = Vehicles used for very short distances on public roads

    Glad to hear that I can drive an 18 wheeler artic a couple of hundred yards with my current licence
