You have a very early Full Can Radio...looks like a CD30.

Yes you can upgrade to CD70...loads of threads on here about it.

If your mate is selling his screen, is it the Monochrome (GID), or the full colour map (CID) screen.

On a 2006 onward Vehicle, the colour screen is a wide screen object, and you will need the facelift surround that goes with it.
This surround will need modifying to get it to fit your pre-facelift dash.

If his sat nav is a monochrome GID, then this should fit in your existing surround.

you will also need a sat nav aerial, but again do look at all the threads on this.

If it helps, I fitted a facelift 2006 CD70 and CID to the wifes 2005 pre-facelift Vectra Energy.
She originally had (and still does in a cupboard) a CD30 and TID screen (with clock buttons on bezel).
Hence my confidence that it can be done!!

    Right.

    You will need a facelift air-vent / screen surround....approx £43 from Vauxhall
A GPS Aerial with a fakra plug on it....Approx £10 to £20 from ebay
A Video cable (unless he is giving you his) Code RTZ from Vauxhall...approx £57 + vat I believe !!

Then what you need to do is grind the top 3mm (1/8") off the top of the vent surround, so that it is flat topped.
Then when you install the surround to you car, ensure that you push as far up as possible into the recess, so that the trim strip will then fit back under it.

Other than this it "should" be plug and play...

You will need to check your screen connector though.
It will be the 32 pin grey plug....just check that you have 2 x red wires and 2 x brown wires...
Some cars only have 1 brown (earth) and 1 red (battery voltage).
If yours is the same (only one of each), then you will need 2 extra pins and insert them into the connector so that pins 1 and 2 are linked together....and then link pins 3 and 5 together.

The rest of the wiring is already in place.

Just do it one section at a time, and it will all work out fine.

    That is...
    1) sort screen connector wiring
    2) trim screen surround to fit your dash panel
    3) fit GPS aerial...most common place on mid dash in speaker hole under grill.
    4) Plug all wires to their respective sockets
    5) Fit screen and vent surround to dash
    6)Push radio into place
    7) fit all remaining trim strips etc
    8) Tech 2 program if in safe mode to marry to your car.
8b) If tech 2 paired to your friends car, then "8" is not required
    9) Take for a drive and test system...it may take 15 to 20 mins on first instalation for the GPS aerial to get a location of your current position.
    10) Smile at another successful installation
