Default CD70 - Apologies for duff info!!

    Well, sort of apologies...

When I wired up my Cavalier to take a CD70 and GID, I went off TIS wiring diagrams.

Anyway, today I pulled out the CD70 and CID from the Wifes Vectra Energy (March 2005) in order to fit a Nokia Blue tooth kit...CK variety not Vauxhall factory type.

After bleating on for years about which wires go from the CD70 to the Display etc, I made a shocking discovery...

Bearing in mind that the wife's sat nav works perfectly along with all BC functions etc - she has half the wires missing compared to what TIS says she should have

According to TIS, there is an ABS wire to pin 37.....not on this vectra.
There should be a serial data pair on pins 33 and 39...not on the wife's vectra.

infact there was nothing in the two smaller blocks appertaining to pins 17 to 40!!

So in essence, there is very little wiring needed to run a GID or CID..
obviously the Vectra does have the rgb cable fitted.

Here are the three pin outs as follows: -

1st Image - What TIS says should be present

2nd Image - What is actually present

3rd Image - wires after fitting Nokia CK bluetooth kit.

Hope this helps would be Mod-ers.

To be honest, If I had the choice I would have fitted the NCDC 2013 to my Cav.
It has the multi changer and Sat Nav.

The CD70 only has a single CD, unless you burn an MP3 disc, which can equate to upto 10 ordinary CD's..however you do get FREE TMC and dynamic guidance.

I'm sure the NCDC2013 also has some other feature, which the CD70 doesn't.

So on balance, I would say stick with the 2013.

On a side note, I have just e-mailed Jaime on Omegaowners, as this "should" clear the way for fitting half can screen with a CD70...as per his rather odd query.

If this can indeed be done, then I would be looking to fit an Omega GID, as this will directly take all my brown/white diagnostic feeds, that are handled on the Vectra by the main engine ECU.
My BC functions would then also work...just looking for a cheap Omega GID to have a try with!!

Regarding the wheel controls, I could be a simple matter of telling the CIM which controls you have, so that it may work...but I don't know for sure

Further on the subject, I do believe that according to TIS (hmmmm do I believe what they say after my initial post above??)
Both full and half can screens can be used, they just need to be wired up appropriately.

    Now it sounds intreresting

either put a CD70 to my current cid.. or just put in a CD70 and normal CID ...

Theres a option in tech2 to tell if you ahve buttons or scrools on your steering wheel..

Well, I thought I'd let him try first, before throwing my money at a lost cause.

I've told him that if he successfully fit's a half-can CID to his, then I would do the GID thing to mine...or perhaps a CID...who knows!!.

Kman is more adamant that it won't fit / work.
I bow to his superior screen modding knowledge, but don't know if he has actually attempted to cross the half can / full can boundaries.

Twelve months ago, a full can CD70 could only be fitted to a Full Can Astra H, or Vectra-C and Signum.

Recently it has been fitted to a non can cavalier mk3 and a few half can Corsa C's..with moderate, but not total success.
I await the omega half can / full can hybrid fitment with interest.

    Yes there are three options..

    Scroller wheels and buttons
    Just Buttons
    and No wheel controls

There is another variance option of switches, which refers to the stalk switches on half can units.
