confused The usual 1.9 cdti symtoms....

I have no power below 2000rpm on my cdti(150) and is seriously bugging me. I have took the egr apart and thoroughly cleaned it including taking the solenoid apart and making sure everything is free moving and it appears to be ok. I have also cleaned the boost sensor well with carb cleaner as well, but the car is no different. Also the intake manifold was changed a year ago and the 3rd injector plug has been changed so should rule them out. Any ideas? Im thinking it may need a new egr but i dont know why it would as everything seems to be moving freely. Any help greatly appreciated!

First thing you could try is remove all the injector plugs and clean them put all them back on but tie them one by one with tie wraps also put some injector cleaner in maybe you might have used some fuel that was bad? The problem is heat gets to the plugs .

hello geoff if yeah have done all of the above mate, it mite be worth trying some new heater/glow plugs just a thought .
probably be worth holding back on the egr valve tho, because i myself bought a brand new egr valve last week for my car it ran great for three days then started playing up again ,ive more than likley wasted 100 quid on a new valve lol.

Went out and tested the glow plugs and theres only 1 of them seems to work so ill get them changed today and see if that helps. Nah paedar i used to use moores petrol for scooter years ago and it struggled to run on it! I only ever go to the BP in ballymena or ballymoney so it's always good stuff goes in er. Injector plugs are all fine and the 3rd injector plug already had a cable tie on it just incase

Surely glo plugs won't affect the running of the CDTi, they only operate at startup, and even then only when its below a certain temperature (3° ??).

exactly that Dan, they only aid in the startup.

Thanks for the reply but the car is also smoking badly on startup when cold I should have maybe mentioned that, so hopefully the plugs will fix that.

I just checked them by linking a piece of wire from the live terminal of the battery and the tip of the plug and watched/listened for any arcing, if they dont then they dont work.

The swirl flaps are also all operating correctly and the link bar is still in place with no visible leakage around them. The only other update is that I fitted the fiat square egr gasket today so ill give it a few days and see if things improve.
