Torque screws

Hi guys,

I was going to be taking my front bumper off today but had trouble with the 3 torque screws which are in the wheel arch that keep the inner lining in place THEY are ROUNDED

Any idea how to get them out I thought about drilling them but wondered if it would damage the piece they are screwed into.

Also can replacements be bought at motor factors or is it dealers only ?

Has anyone else had this problem, if yes how did you solve it ?

Any suggestions will be greatfully accepted.

I have had that problem, used a pair of pipe/water pump pliers to grip the heads.

iirc they are like self tapping screws

flat head screw driver, pliers thats what i used when i got trouble with one..

any way realy but you will need the red captive nuts that go on the bumper

Use a hack saw blade and cut into the top... then a flathead as paul said...

Drill the heads off them mate, even if you do knacker the bit behind them they can be bought as they clip into the hole and thats what you screw into, only a few pence too

I used a electric angle grinder today to remove a rounded torx screw when doing my fog lights.

Very carefully (obviously) removed the head off the screw and when flat to the backing washer it simply popped off.I was then able to remove the remains with a pair of molegrips.

You can sometimes remove stuck screws by running a drill in reverse so the action of the drill bit turning starts the screw unfastening even if it was snapped by being overtightened.
