Anyone know what this sound is?

My car makes this humming kind of noise when i am driving the faster i go the worse it becomes. I have loaded an audio file onto youtube, if you could take a listen and make a guess as to what it might be, i would be very greatfull.

Without even listening its either the rear tyres droning or you need a wheel bearing replaced

can you be a genius?? is this a common problem then? is it an easy fix?

Try swapping the tyres front to rear and see if that helps. Failing that either a couple of new tyres £xxx or a new wheel bearing (Fronts £60-70 Rears 70-80) and about an hours labour per bearing

Bearing on the rear is a complete hub and bolt on.

1st thing is to rule out engine / gearbox noise - does it continue if your coasting out of gear ? If so its tyres or wheels.

Sounds like mine and mine is tyres best to swap fronts to rears to check it is deffo tyres

I'd agree... although all i can here is you fidgeting in that clip

Mine is also stupidly loud, mainly on good smooth roads and even when coasting...
