Angry P0422 error comes up again and again

    Hi guys.

I did a search through the forum, but I didnt find a clue. Some time ago I replaced a catalyst converter as my old one was simply jammed. But since that time, several times a week I got a spanner icon, which is related to p0422 error code - Main Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1). Am pretty sure CC isnt faulty and have no clue what's wrong. I have oxygen sensor, the one just after CC, but dunno if it can make error mentioned above to come up? Did anyone have the same problem? I just dont want to replace every single part of exhaust of my car. Almost forgot to mention: the error comes up mostly when I use auto selective mode (had AGB). Engine Z32SE. Am able to clean the error code using an opcom interface but it comes up again after some time. Beside it - car is fast as a rocket, drives smoothly. But that spanner icon is such annoying. Any ideas mates?

Basically the post cat O2 sensor monitors the efficiency of the cat.
With a known good cat I would first check the wiring from the sensor to the main loom then as a cheap option replace the post cat sensor; would also buy a specific as opposed to generic one.

the 3.2 has 3 02 sensors and 3 cats. I would look at the pre cat and the sensor on bank 1.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

The wiring seems fine, I didn't find any damage on it. So may it be sensor itself?

I know it I meant the one on even cylinders' side, which was changed some time ago Am sure it works fine. Been just wondering if the faulty o2 sensor may cause that error code to come up?

you'll just have to try the after cat sensor but they normally are correct and non-gen cats aren't up to the vx tollerances

Yes, they have. I had a problem with misfiring and found it was the cat on bank 1 - was simply jammed (besides: mil indicator was lighted up or even flashing). I took the car to Opel dealer, they changed the correct one and misfiring problem had gone. But now I have this issue with 0422 error. I'll do what you say - I'll change o2 sensor (i'll try to have a chance to give it back if swap doesn't help). Matt: i cannot complain - simply because they did it free of charge (i have a friend working in Vx dealer) and i feel it'd be not quite fair to complain.

3.2s still get through MOT without a 'cat'.
