    Default Air con radiator

Short of going out and putting my hand on the air con radiator after a run,to see if it is hot or cold, I was wondering if the air con radiator is used to dissipate heat like the engine radiator, as if the air con rad is cold then cold air would flow over the engine rad and keep that cooler, thus when the air con is on the engine would be running cooler, just sone thing I was pondering over....

No, I don't think so. The AC compressor compresses the refrigerant - This has the side effect of increasing its temperature. The condensor cools the refrigerent back to the same temperature as the outside air. So if anything, the engine radiator will run hotter. Sorry...

Cheers stevedee3, that makes sense, I was not too sure how the air con works, it looks like the air con rad does what I though it might doo dissipate the heat from the air con ....

    it does exactly that ed..

The A/C radiator will run as hot as heck in this weather.. By chilling the car's interior coil, it has to transfer heat via the gas to the other coil to dissipate it..

if the system was an office or domestic setup, you could run it in reverse as a heatpump system..
