    Default vectra 1.8ls fuel economy

Ok, We have lousy fuel economy on the wifes 53 plate vectra. I had a full service done, no improvement. i then noticed the temp guage was temperamental, so replaced the thermostat and temp sensor (£45)

Fuel economy is now up from 25 mpg to 31.2mpg,
This is based on comparing two weeks commute of 250 miles each week

but this is proper gentle motorway driving 70mph max, with CC on, no heavy acceleration at all. my daily commute is a 62 mile round trip down the M1. Does anyone else think this MPG is bad?

yes thats bad, at a dead 70 mph my 1.8 53 plate would do between 37.5 and 40 mpg,, ps,, I get better mpg with the CC OFF,

My commute is 70 miles each way, mostly Motorway. Normally I get around 40 mpg. My car has a fault that hasn't been diagnosed yet that is affecting fuel economy so I'm down to around 32 at the mo.

I did an experiment a while ago and drove around like miss diasy, changing gear at 2000 rpm, not going full throttle and the fuel economy increased to 44.5 mpg, but was BORING.

sounded like i done well getting 35 mpg on mine,my previous car was a new shape 1.4 megane which i also got 35mpg with so i was quite chuffed getting the same with my vec,it lacked a bit of power especially when towing the caravan though,im guessing the newer vvti has more power, but ive got the cdti 150 now, sometimes i forget the caravan is on the back now though.
